The Embassy of India in Switzerland organized a vibrant celebration of Diwali at Helvetiaplatz in Bern, marking the festival’s proud recognition on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

In her address, First Secretary Veena Tirkey highlighted the global significance of Deepavali as a cherished cultural tradition that symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.

The evening featured traditional elements of the festival, including the lighting of diyas, colourful rangoli, festive decorations, and Indian sweets. Members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India gathered in large numbers, creating a warm and festive atmosphere that celebrated unity, culture, and the shared joy of the Festival of Lights.
