International Women’s Day celebrations at Berne on 12 March 2024

Embassy of India, Berne celebrated International Women’s Day 2024 on 12 March 2024 at Berne under the theme ‘Inspire Inclusion’, with distinguished woman personalities from Switzerland as well as Indian Diaspora, excelling in different fields, participating as guest speakers at the event.

The event was jointly inaugurated by Ambassador Shri Mridul Kumar and six guest speakers, Ms. Andrea Rauber Saxer, Head of the Bilateral Economic Relations Division – SECO, Dr. Archana Sharma, Senior Advisor-International Relations – CERN, Ms. Martha Wiedemann, Associate Director - Badrutt’s Palace Hotel, St. Moritz, Ms. Suki Dusanj-Lenz, CEO & Founder – Once Upon A Media, Ms. Ulrike Erbslöh, Managing Director - Fondation Beyeler, Basel & Ms. Vijaya Rao, Founder - Nateschwara Academy, Baden & former Cultural Ambassador to UNICEF.

Ambassador Kumar in his address, lauded the accomplishments of Nari Shakti and shared thoughts on India’s transformation story from women development to women-led development. This was followed by guest speakers who shared their experiences, extraordinary journeys, notable achievements and their progressive thoughts towards achieving gender equality, women empowerment and women-led development.

An Indian classical music performance by veteran artist Ms. Vijaya Rao and troupe rounded-up the event.
