India Fest & Margazhi Utsav – 2024 in collaboration with SIFAA at Zurich on 6-8 December 2024

Embassy in collaboration with Swiss India Fine Arts Association (SIFAA) presented a 3-Day ‘India Fest & Margazhi Utsav – 2024’ at Zurich from 6-8 December 2024. Ambassador Mridul Kumar inaugurated the 3-Day cultural extravaganza by lighting of the traditional lamp and delivered the opening address.

The 3-day fest was a wonderful display of India’s vibrant & colourful culture. The fest featured a magnificent 'Taj Mahal' Photo corner set up by the Embassy where visitors shared lively moments.

Showcasing India’s rich & diverse culture heritage, the opening ceremony featured a collage of Indian classical dance performance and a stunning ‘Bharat Fashion Walk’ where wide array of colorful fabrics from several states of India were presented by the diaspora.

On days 2 & 3 of India Fest, an incredible lineup of Indian folk & classical dances like Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Kathak, Mohiniyattam, Bihu, Ghoomar, Lavani, Lezim, DhunachiNaach, Rabindra Nritya, carnatic vocal & instrumental concerts, by Indian diaspora and local Swiss artists mesmerised one and all present.

A a stunning Yakshagana performance at the India Fest & Margazhi Utsav-2024 was simply a visual treat for the audience, as this unique & rare traditional folk art from Karnataka is presented with an artistic blend of racy music, vigorous dance, extempore speech & gorgeous costumes.

Embassy also created a space for young diaspora to stay connected to their motherland India & its rich traditions at India Fest by hosting back-to back stellar dance and music performances by enthusiastic diaspora kids that stole the show.

On all 3 days, visitors of India Fest indulged in the delicious offerings, from comfort food favourites to popular Indian street food delicacies, at the culinary counters. The festival also featured ODOP lounge including Indian tea & coffee, Yoga & Ayurveda, exhibitions on Indian Dance forms, Indian beaches & North East India. A Book Corner with books on Indian languages, Indian Bazaar with stalls offering the best of Made in India’ products summed up the festivities.

The 3-day cultural festival came to a close with an energetic Bhangra dance by all present. Second Secretary Shri Debabrata Paul felicitated all the artists who performed at the India Fest & Margazhi Utsav – 2024.
