Lifetime Achievement Award: Abani Biswas, Milon Mela, Switzerland

On 17.08.2016, Shjri Vijay Yadav represented the Embassy of India at the vibrant ‘Milon Mela’ held in beautiful Muralto, Switzerland.

Mr. Abani Biswas, Art Director and founder of ‘Milòn Mèla’, Shantiniketan, India, in conjunction with the ‘Teatro dei Fauni’, Locarno, performed a spectacular show at Piazza Burbaglio, Muralto (Switzerland).

A representative of the City of Muralto – Mr. Pietro, Art Director of ‘Teatro dei Fauni’ - Ms. Santuzza Oberholzer, and a large gathering attended the event.

On this occasion of the 18th International Festival, Mr. Abani Biswas was honoured with “Il Castello Incantato” Award (Lifetime Achievement Award) by Ms. Santuzza Oberholzer, Artistic Director of the ‘Teatro dei Fauni’. 

Mr. Abani Biswas has dedicated his life to the research, conservation and development of the traditional performing arts of the country. His project ‘Milón Méla’ which means ‘The Fair of Coming Together’ involves 40 traditional artists from various regions and different walks of life. They have participated in various theatre festivals in many countries across the world.
